The Association of General Contractors of AmeriServing as the home to Tennessee’s First Families since 1949, The Tennessee Residence became the home of Governor Phil Bredesen and First Lady Andrea Conti in 2003. They immediately recognized the historic property was in need of restoration to preserve her historical significance. The four-phase project was orchestrated by Goodlettsville-based general contractors, Powell Building Group (PBG). Under their attentive supervision and guidance, the restoration successfully met the goals and objectives necessary to address and resolve many aesthetic, functional and environmental issues.

▪ Middle Tennessee Architectural Firm Still LEED-ing the Way

Climate and energy policy took a big step in June when the U.S. House of Representatives passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES). Currently, states are responsible for setting building codes, leading to large variations in the stringency of energy requirements. ACES would allow the Secretary of Energy to set a national energy code that states would have to meet or exceed, and would give the federal government enforcement power over state and local government. According to construction attorneys, this provision will only complicate an already difficult process by having architects, contractors and engineers meet not only state standards, but national standards as well. [Contact me for the complete article]
